Abstract

In this final chapter of their edited volume, the authors summarize nine themes that were raised across chapters. In their discussion of each theme, they summarize relevant points from chapters in the book as well as the explicit and emerging recommendations for moving fairness forward. Recommendations are offered for research, practice, and future editions of the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing (American Educational Research Association, American Psychological Association, & National Council on Measurement in Education, 2014). The purpose of this final chapter is to identify the ways that intentions to address fairness in testing are falling short and where more action needs to be taken by the measurement community and test developers, as well as test users, to ensure that our intentions for fairness in testing are understood and realized.
